The Bedroom was quite blah and uninteresting when I first saw it in January 2004. I was very concerned that my bedroom furniture wasn't going to fit in it.

Obviously this is not my furniture. But what was sort of odd is that I have this comforter too. It was the first comforter that I ever purchased, and I still have it.

I was very happy when everything did fit in it rather nicely. At first I liked the off-white walls... it was almost a monochromatic sort of thing as it matched pretty well with my comforter and the Berber on the floor.

I ended up getting rather sick of it as the rest of the rooms were getting color, I realized how dull this room appeared to be. There was just no warmth to it. Thank Goodness for the almighty Mrs. Martha Stewart of Westport, CT and her fabulous paint collection at the local Vernon Big Kmart! The color in the pictures appears to be more yellow than it actually is. Please refer to the background of this webpage for the truest color sample of Mrs. Stewart's Yarrow wall color.
In the picture above, Miss Jane Wilhite takes a moment from walking around the house and incessantly crying and complaining to investigate the desk.
Please note the luxurious (the label even says so!) chenille throw which is a perfect compliment to my room. This was a gift from Ms. April Powers of Southington, CT.

>> Autumn 2005 Update <<

Mrs. Kelly Elizabeth Lattal of Windsor, CT previously raised a concern.

You see, Mrs. Lattal was quite upset on account of the fact that the lamp on the small dresser was far too large!

Well, this issue was addressed at once, and a more suitable sized lamp was added! I am sure that this is exactly the type of lighting piece she had in mind for this room!

If you'll note, I consistently seem to have a problem with keeping Diana's head on the rest of her bust! I have fixed her twice, and now twice it has fallen off!

The only real change here has been my bedding. I bought this in the winter of 2005. I am getting sort of bored with it already. I've lived this Traditional sort of style for a long time now and it's time for a change... a time for a step toward a more elegant time.

God! I wonder what kind of style I'll choose!

The other change your astute eye may note is that there is no picture over my bed. Well friends, fear not, this disgusting naked space was not by design! About thirty seconds after I hit snooze for the ninth time on the morning of October 6, 2005, the picture came plummeting off the wall! It is currently sitting in several pieces on the other side of my room.

>> Summer 2007 Update <<

Here's Miss Jane Wilhite attempting to be "Seductive." You try living with her. Just try...

Enough about Jane for now... My Mom-Diagnosed O.C.D. has taken root and shown evidence here in the bedroom. As I mentioned back in 2005, I was never really happy with the way my bedroom looked. The Queen Anne type furniture was from another time in my life. I bought the set piece by piece back in the early 90's when I worked at JCPenney. It looked great in my Hunter Green bedroom at the Forest Street house in East Hartford where I grew up. I'm over it now.

Back to the matter at hand! I grew tired of the red comforter I bought back in the summer of 2005. Sometime that year, I got this beautiful Jacobean print from an ebay auction.

The next bedspread I bought was this Oriental inspired print. I thought it was pretty neat, but a touch too 70's.

Thankfully I just happened to have an Afghan to match it!

At some point in the spring, I found this daisy coverlet at Saver's up in Springfield, MA. It was a steal at $3.00! I like it a lot, but I never felt it really went in the room.

Also over the past winter, I found a Blue/Aqua/Purple/White in the same pattern of the sheets you see Jane laying on in the picture above. I never used it because it didn't go in the room, but I thought it was cool and fun.

In the 3rd week of July, 2007 I stumbled upon 2 suitable bedding sets, in tones of blue, green, and white. I decided to run with them, and switch out my beige curtains for white ones.

Oddly, NO ONE sells plain white curtains. NO ONE! I couldn't get over the difficulty I had finding something suitable. So, I had to buy some flat sheets and create my own. Grandma's Singer was being... uncooperative, so I borrowed Great-Grandma's from my Mom. It worked with out any major issues! Yay!

Here's Bedspread #1.

I think I paid like $10 for this one.

I love this one, but I can't find anyone else alive who seems to like it! :(

I love the colors in it. I seriously debated painting my room that Aqua Blue color in one of the flowers.

Mr. Joseph Macey of New Britain, CT talked me out of the blue paint because he does not feel it will look good with the cherry furniture. :(

Here's Bedspread #2.

This is a comforter set from Kohl's. It's got shades of Lime and Avocado, and another Aqua. I liked this a lot when I first spotted it!

It was $170 on Clearance for $80, but because this one was not in its original packaging, it was $25!

On one of my daily trips with Mrs. Sharona Mosby-Robison of Bloomfield CT, I got the wool Afghan. It didn't go with anything that I had before I bought, it, but it does now! :)

We have much enjoyed our trips in her Hardtop-convertible Pontiac G6!

And now....

The one you've been waiting for...

The bedspread that made Ms. Michelle Fasolo of Rockville, CT turn up her nose in disgust and exclaim,

"You cannot buy that! It's REVOLTING!"

Ba-Bum, BA-Bum, BA-Bum, Ba-Bummmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!

Yes, Friends! Here's Bedspread #4! Isn't it just DREAMY? I fell in love with it before I even got it out of the bag to discover what it was. It's a coverlet that came with two matching shams. Completely new and about 40+ years old, I'd guess.

What do you think of the new curtains? I like them! I've spent most of today trying to change things in here to get rid of the Roman/Classical type stuff and put some vintage 60's things in the room. Michelle is happy because she inherits the old stuff. :)

I'll leave you alone now to wander about the room and take in the changes for yourself!

I am so pleased that the lamps donated to The Estate from Richard and Yvonne Gardner in October 2005 finally look like they belong!

Jane will sit here in the window and wait for your return!
