Hello dear friends, and welcome to the 2005 Holiday Season!

This is a very special time of year here at The Estate. Such a special time deserves just the right amount of festive decor. Come take a tour with me of what I like to call "Weihnachten im Plastik," or Christmas in Plastic!

Let us start this tour in the Living Room here in Suite One of The Estate. As we begin our journey, you may want to make note of just how many Christmas Trees there are here. You will count three, to be precise!

But first, let's start with my coffee table. Notice how the plastic arrangement that is aburst with vibrant oranges and yellows has now been transformed to a focal point to any Winter Wonderland!

Also some suitable reading is required at this holiday time as well!

My housemate and companion Ms. Jane Wilhite makes herself comfortable underneath the Living Room Christmas Tree on the skirt that has glitter on it. She likes to add to the festive cheer here by rolling around on the tree skirt, getting glitter all over her, and then evenly distributing glitter throughout the house!

As we enter into the Dining Room here at The Estate, you may be wondering where on earth I could have gotten my hands on such stunningly beautiful Christmas Decorations! Well there's not one simple answer, dear friends. Let me start by admitting that last year, with her permission, I ransacked Grandma's attic while she was in Florida. I uncovered a literal treasure-trove of Christmas items from years gone by!

Let's take the little flying elf thing in the middle of the garland of this picture to the right. I actually thought he was pretty ugly until this past summer, when I saw another, exactly like him for sale at The Antiques Marketplace up in Putnam, CT.... for the cost of $45! It would be fair to say that I gained a new appreciation for him. :)

Here we have one of my mother's favorite plastic center pieces in the estate. As you can see, it has been spruced up for the Holiday season! Little did she and my Aunt Rose know that the plastic pineapple they picked up for me would have such a perfect home!

As you can see, very few things are untouched by seasonal joy here in The Estate!

The ceramic tree was hand made by Memere, Mrs. Beatrice Beaudoin. It was always a favorite of mine at my grandmother's house growing up. I am so happy that I was able to steal it out of her attic before my mother got her hands on it. :)

Now you're most likely saying to yourself, "You can't count that as a Christmas tree! You said there were Three! I've only seen one!" Now, now... please regain your composure! They are here! I would not lie to you... how ever you may find yourself in a bit of a quandary. What color is it??

Is it Red?
Is it Yellow?
Is it Green?
Is it Blue?

Why, no silly! It's white! Thanks to the help of the color wheel I stole from my grandparent's attic this year, my white Christmas Tree slowly changes from color to color. It's simply amazing!

The story of the color wheel is actually a bit of a Christmas Miracle! When I got it out of their attic, I plugged it in, and the light lit right up. However... the color wheel wouldn't turn! I was so upset! The tree was up at my house and all ready to go

I unplugged it, sort of fiddled with the wiring a bit to see if anything was frayed or shorting out. No luck. For some reason after it sat for a while, it just started turning on its own, and hasn't stopped! Pretty impressive for a forty year old electric mechanism! :)

The ever-thoughtful Ms. Jane Wilhite takes a few moments out of her day to rearrange the white cotton tree skirt I bought for this tree.

She truly has a unique artistic vision. I only wish she would display it in someone else's house :(

Speaking of the Little Cat, Ms. Wilhite has her stocking hung with care in the doorway leading from the Dining Room to the Kitchen!

Rumor has it that she has asked jolly old Saint Nick for Shoe Laces, Milk Carton pull-tabs, and price tags -- all of which are her favorite toys; and all of which I find in the oddest places in my house, such as on my bed.

As you can see not much goes untouched with festive Holiday cheer here in the Estate!

I was very happy when I was at Savers in Springfield MA and found these vintage, plastic Santa Claus men still in their original packaging. They were only sixty-nine cents a piece! Can you imagine?

Lastly we have my prized possession acquired last year from a Goodwill last year. It was a brand-new-in-the-box PLASTIC (not vinyl) Christmas tree circa 1968! The tree stands at four and a half feet tall and is just so deliciously tacky! I love it! The blinking multicolored lights help add to its mystique. In the picture above, Jane is a wee bit confused as to why she is not allowed to sleep under this tree...

Well friends, Ms. Jane Wilhite and I would like to thank you for participating in the cyber tour of the first floor of The Estate! And we would like to remind you that this is just the very beginning! We hope to have much, much more decorations for next year!

And remember, only very bad people have real Christmas trees.... like Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, and George W. Bush! Make the right choice and buy your Vinyl, Plastic, or Aluminum Christmas Tree today!
